Dining with the Birds on a Plaid table

Good morning! I sure hope you all had a WONDERFUL Christmas and were surrounded by the ones you love. Our little Colleen had a very good day, Santa was very good to her. I set a new table for us and thought we would dine with the birds for a few weeks in winter! I fell in love with this runner when I saw it.
I have collected the BHG line of Christmas plates, from Walmart, since they started this line a few years ago. Some of these have birds depicted on the salad plates. I started with a plaid tablecloth, and added the runner. This is a favorite design idea of mine to use a cloth and a runner.
I kept the pinecones, small ornaments and snowflakes in the bubble glasses and added a cardinal.
The centerpiece is a bark birdhouse with some cardinals on it. I placed it into a basket with some greens, ivy, and picks.
Next to the centerpiece are 2 of these bird figures.

I found these cute watering can ornaments at Walmart.  This plate depicts a chickadee on a berry vine.

I mixed up the flatware for this table for some fun. Green, white and polka dot utensils make it interesting!
2 napkins; a white and a plaid are gathered together with a ring of greens and berries. These are actually candle rings, but I often use them as napkin rings! Another little design trick of mine:)

I am using some cute votives that have a border of holly, since it gets dark so early.....which I have to say I do  not like:):)
The bird S and P are in a metal basket holder.

The stack is a textural placemat, the plaid charger from Michaels last year, an embossed white dinner plate, and the bird salad plates.

Aren't these cute?

I got some shots the nest morning when the sun finally came back out!

Thanks for your visit and for all your sweet comments during this past year.

I so appreciate all my friends and followers and hope you will be with me in the coming year.
Wishing you all many blessings in 2017!!!
XO, Pinky

  3. Ah, you are going to laugh, here are all these beautiful birds, and thoughtful arrangement, the plaid, the napkins, everything perfect. What made me smile was the unexpected---the polka-dot cutlery. May all our days be filled with surprises of the unexpected that make us smile. Sandi

  5. I love birds too, especially cardinals for winter. I didn't start collecting the BHG dishware when the birds were available. So wish I had! Love your table.

  6. LOVE all of this!! I just bought several cardinal items on Clearance for 75% off at Boscovs. I do a small tree in my kitchen for Winter, decorating it with cardinals and other bird ornaments and bird houses. And I also bought a crackle glass red cardinal hurricane holder with fairy lights in it at Bed, Bath and Beyond!!
I just posted part 1 of my trip to Country Folks, if you are interested, which is located in Nescopek, Pa.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
    Hugs,

  8. What a delightful table. I love cardinals. They are illinois' State Bird. Actually, a bunch of states claim it as their own state bird. I can't say I blame them. It's such a beautiful bird! Birds and plaid seem to me to be a perfect combination. Love it!

  9. Your plaid and bird tablescape is so darling. There is something so cozy about plaid. The bark birdhouse gives a feeling of the northwoods. I love all of the touches and details like the waterning can and the mix of patterns in the flatware. It is the perfect table to keep up all winter.
