"Out of Africa", the Mancave!

Good morning friends! I am still praying for the poor people in Texas as they try to get through this horrible disaster. I wish I could do more.
Since I am in the middle of starting to put summer away and start on Fall I decided to share Joe's man cave:) It has changed since he started to put the trains up. The room he is using used to have much of these things that are from Africa. As some of you know I had a guestroom at the old house that I called "The Africa Room". My Father-in-law was a pilot and brought back things from Africa and the things they had piqued my interest. So I inherited some things and started to collect things myself. So, let's go downstairs and look around! This is the view from the stairs. Joe chose everything in this room. The shelf unit he saw at Wayfair and bought it before we even moved in here:)
It is wonderful, as the boxes that you see can be moved so you can change things around. At Christmas this comes in handy!

We do watch TV down here and are anxious for football season:)
The wooden lanterns on top that have the copper tops were hand made by Joe!!! He loved lanterns before they became all the rage!
The 2 pictures on each side of the shelf unit haven't been changed out yet. They were in the last house and just landed here when we moved in.
The 2 tin lanterns were handmade by a then 91 year old man and we bought them at a fair, years ago.

I loved collecting masks, they intrigue me.

Here's a close up of one of the lanterns Joe made.

This table was made by Joe's brother and gifted to us.

 Looking towards the bar now.
Joe designed this by himself, he had a vision of what he wanted. He installed the stone around the base of the bar and installed all the cabinets. We also have a bar fridge, an ice maker and a dishwasher.
This table will seat 8 and comes in handy when we have lots of people here (like Sat. night)!!

Joe also collects tap handles and displays them on shelves that he made and then lit.

Can you believe that this stone wall is actually wallpaper!!?? Everyone has to touch it to believe it. The picture is Joe's Dad.
This was drawn by my Dad. My maiden name was Martini so he drew his and my Mom's hands holding Martini glasses. He also signed this one, which he rarely did, so I treasure that!

These carved lamps were brought back from India by my FIL.
The card table in the background holds snacks when we have people here.
Since the room is now "Out of Africa" I did the bathroom the same.

This is one of my favorite pieces.

So, that's the tour of downstairs. We enjoy entertaining and do so often. Like I said there were 12 people here Sat. night. We always have fun with friends and neighbors.
Thanks for visiting.
XO, Pinky
