Adding Spring Decor to the Kitchen

I decided that this year I was going to add BLUES and some greens to the kitchen. It is a lighter and brighter look and I love it! I remembered that I had these beautiful blue and white canisters so I started with them! Since I look out to the living room from the sink, adding blues was the logical thing to do.
I love these canisters, they are decorated so beautifully.

I brought out the blue and white creamer and sugar next to the coffee maker and the S and P too.
This blue and white piece is holding fruit right now.

Here is the little stool at the end of the cabinets. Holding a white lantern and a birdhouse. Next to that is a larger blue bird on a pretty "nest", actually a larger candle ring.

This is a wooden jar candle holder. I have had it forever.
 My spoon rest
The utensil holder has a matching plate....

This is the buffet area. I like to decorate this area pretty simply.
This birdcage holds a stone like bird, a nest and a bird plate.

I made/decorated this birdcage years ago.
Can you see that I put lengths of bamboo as perches for the birds?

In this cloche I placed a stone like bird and a found nest from the yard.

This is actually a candle holder. The nest part holds a candle but I embellished it with flowers instead:)
And I found these towels at Joann Fabric last year. LOVE them! Aren't they perfect?

Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your visits and comments!!!

Bunnies in the Breakfast Room

When we built this house we called this room the "morning room", because that's what it was in the model. They had it set up with a sofa, chairs, etc. I decided I wanted to use it as a breakfast room. I really like my neighbors who have it set up as a morning room but I didn't think I needed another sofa here. Anyway, that's the back story cause I know some of you who follow me know I called it the morning room when we first moved in:) Now onto the bunnies:) As most of you know, Joe built this hutch in the old house. I have thought about painting it, but hate to cover the pretty wood. It has darkened with age so I will just leave it for now. I love decorating it for each season!
I love bunnies and have many. They just make me smile.
Over in the 2 corners I have these shelves that are actually plant stands and about 100 years old:) I love the tiles on them and keep them decorated too. The bunny in the burlap bag is handmade and so is the taller one on the middle shelf. My girlfriend, Jackie made him for me. His base is a Coke bottle!
I decided to do a few things on the window sill this year.
This brown bunny with the basket is a favorite. I filled his basket with some faux tulips and other flowers.
I have 3 of these faux chocolate bunnies. I got them at K Mart years ago. They had them for 2 years, in 3 sizes and I am SO glad I bought all 3 cause they never had them again. I look each year! The "chocolate" egg came from K Mart too.
My little wire cloche is a regular on this hutch. Right now I have one of my 2 Goebel bunnies under the cloche and one beside it.
My 2 script bunnies are on the top shelf.
This guy is ceramic and I filled his basket with mini flowers too.

Here is one of the "chocolate" bunnies in a birdcage! He sits on a bed of grass with faux chocolate eggs.
A glass hurricane holds more eggs. This was a housewarming gift from Yvonne at Stonegable.
Mr. Magregor, as I call him, sits on the top of the hutch.

I threw this in to show you my new tulips in my Grandmothers vase. They are fully opened now. Yellow and pink and ruffled and gorgeous! They will be so pretty outside.

Thanks so much for your visit.

Dining with The Birds!!!!

Spring has FINALLY arrived. We are having some lovely temps now, mid 60's and Mon. and Tues. may hit 70!!! I am very excited. I put all the Easter décor away on Sat. morning and got out my birdcages, gardening things etc.  I found this table runner a few weeks ago and fell in love. So, I decided to do a table around the runner. It is fun, organic but somehow restful to me. I hope you like it!!!
I love the burlap TYPE material and the script!
I used a square rattan placemat/charger, a creamy plate with a rubbed brown edge, a black and cream flowered plate and a black and cream scroll plate for the stack.

Pots with nests and eggs on one side of the centerpiece. A bird on a rock sits standby.

I gathered some gardening elements in a favorite round basket tray. Some clay pots, a nest, gardening tools, a pitcher.
I draped a burlap type napkin inside the basket to add some softness.
An arrangement of greens in a clay pot under a wire cloche sits in the basket too.
A green bird sits on a metal stand with a little fluff to resemble a nest.

My little garden wagons make another appearance.
The napkins are gathered with a bird napkin ring. Cream flatware is what I am using. I considered my black handled flatware but decided on the cream for a lighter, Spring look.
I love these wire, nest votive holders and placed them in a twiggy nest (that I have used in the past as a napkin ring!)
My rattan wrapped glasses add another texture on the table.
My Target S and P sit in a wire nest type holder.

I found these burlap pillows with vegetables on them last year. They are perfect at this table!
 Carrots, eggplant and turnips!

When I took the pictures it was a cloudy day. Then the next morning the sun was shining brightly, so I took a few more pics. You all know how I LOVE shadow shots:)

This is one of my favorite pieces. I found it at Kirklands years ago. It is a beautiful message, to me.
