A Whole New Look for the Guest Room!

Good morning friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. We had a very good one and very busy! Today my sweet Colleen starts Kindergarten!!! I am so excited for her! So, the other day I finally redid the whole guest room. I have been thinking about it for months. I had never really been real happy with the blue in here. So, I changed it all out and the best part is I didn't have to spend a penny! I had everything that I used! Whoo hoo! I am really liking the new look.
 I am so glad I kept this rug. It has been rolled up in a corner since we moved here!
 These chairs were my sons and have been stored too.

 Simple bedding; tan comforter and shams and animal print throw pillows.

 I added this leopard throw at the foot of the bed.
 Now this dresser is perfect for this look! I am glad now that I didn't paint it.
 Rattan lamp and mirror.
 Love this basket,vase.
 This trunk has always been here but now looks so much better. I had the vase next to it and just added some greenery.

 Love this vase too.
 I made these wall pockets years ago when I was working at the flower warehouse. I stained the pocket and did the arrangement in them. Notice the pineapple picks.
 I remembered I had these pillows so added them to the chairs.

Thanks so much for your visit. I am in the middle of doing my Fall decorating, have been doing it on and off Sunday and Monday. Hope to finish up in a couple of days. Have you started yet? I LOVE fall decorating as the colors of fall are my colors.

Decorating With Blue and White!!!

I started collecting blue and white pieces over 30 years ago. Now it is all the rage! It is classic and will never go out of style! I kept seeing BEAUTIFUL homes featuring blue and white. It struck a chord with me. We were building a house, so I decided I wanted to collect these pieces for our new home.  Now we have another new home and this is how I have used my collection! When you walk in the front door, this is what you see. I love how the steps flair out and I can feature some of my jars on the stairs.
 By the front door, I have an arrangement in a blue and white vase and a blue and white bird house under the plant stand.
 Walking through the foyer we come to this credenza. I made another arrangement for this vase and have 2 more blue and white jars here.
 Next to the credenza is this vignette.
 The elephants came from Vietnam, MANY years ago when my FIL was a pilot. They are 2 of my VERY favorite pieces that I have.
 This very large jar was a gift from my son and is my FAVORITE piece that I have!
 My curio cabinet is filled with blue and white pieces and my Hummels too!

 The LARGE fishbowl acts as a vessel for the tree.
 The coffee table changes frequently, but right now it has a blue and white jar, some fresh flowers, a blue bird and a nest and a pineapple lantern.
 This is one of my favorite pillows. Since our pond is right outside this room, the koi pillow is perfect here in the summer!
 These pillows are farely new and perfect with my collection!
 A faux orchid in a blue and white pot.

 The summer mantle and hearth with lots of blue and white.

 The view from by the kitchen.
 This year I added blue and white to the kitchen

 Some close ups of the credenza in the foyer.

 And, finally, the barscape in blue and white!

Thanks for your visit and sweet comments. I truly appreciate them!

~~~Collected Over Time~~~
That is what our home is now. Things that we love and have collected over time. I thought I would share the living room. Our homes are our sactuaries, the place where we are comfortable and where we show our love to our family and friends. I know many of you have seen the living room  before. I will tell you about some of the pieces. This is the living room as you come in from the foyer. When we moved in, I knew I wanted to do the matchstick blinds on the windows. I then asked Joe to make me the valances and make then so I could display things on them. The lamps are from India and are carved elephants. They used to have other shades but we got these rattan ones many years ago.
 This is a beautiful chair, that FITS me. I can sit in it comfortably. It was  my sons, and he gave it to me when he moved to Florida. It has beautiful, silk upholstery. I placed the 2 tiered rack next to it with 2 Asian pottery pices.
 On the other side is a carved table from India that was my in-laws with a blue and white planter holding ivy. The pot on the stand I bought at Epcot 24 years ago....the year my Mom died.
The curio cabinet was purchased about 29 years ago. It holds blue and white pieces and Hummels. The tree was made by my brother-in-law.
 This sofa is also 29 years old!!! My Mom bought it for us when she came to live with us. I needed a sectional in the old house as that is the only thing that would look right in that space, and I found this PERFECT one! It is amazing that it fits right in here too!!! Of course all my blue and white pieces have been collected over time as well. The screen was my in-laws as well. We have inherited so many beautiful things for which I am SOOOO grateful!
 The elephants, one of my prized possesions were also my in-laws. My FIL was a pilot and got them in Vietnam. I ADORE them. UH OH!!! I just realized that there are paint swatchwes on the wall!!! We are about to paint, FINALLY, and are choosing colors:)
 Recently I came across this needlepoint that someone made for my parents when they got married. I realized I have a few boxes that new got unpacked!!!!So, I decided to hang it here in the living room.
 I found the bamboo ladder many years ago too. It hung in the stairwell at the old house. Now I have a great spot for it here! The Asian guy is a fairly new purchase, (again, Home Goods) and the 2 vases were purchased several years ago. The LARGE blue and white jar was also a gift from our son.
 This is a favorite jar that I got at Home Goods many years ago. I am also giving you a sneak peek at the mantle. I will share that next.
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines and spent it with the ones you love. We went out on Friday night to beat the crowds and were very glad we did. Thanks for your visit. XO, Pinky
