I Just Couldn't Resist!!!!!

Happy May everyone!!! Where did April go so fast???? So,  I have been looking, on and off, since we moved in here for new artwork for the fireplace. I never thought I would find something that I LOVE and was the right size. BUT I DID!!!! I was just browsing one night at the Pier 1 site and bam! I saw it! So, after we (Joe) got it hung for me, I had to redo the mantle and hearth!
Since the artwork makes such a statement, I kept the mantle design rather simple. I combined a blue hydrangea garland and a white hydrangea garland. Then I just added the candles. Simple but petty.
On the hearth I used my white basket and wired a green wreath to it then added a nest.
I love the little bird on the jars lid.
I will use this all Spring and Summer then will decide if I will keep it here for Fall and Winter.
I actually like that it isn't framed. It keeps it simple and can go with anything.

I have had the blue hydrangea garland for YEARS! I hadn't used it for awhile, it was stored away. But I knew I could combine it with the white one.

The white lantern got a nest inside. I perched a bird onto my bowl that I turned upside down and put a nest of greens under it.

These clay pots with nests and eggs are an old staple too.

At night, the lights come on.
I am so happy with the carved wooden lanterns on the hearth. I can't believe it took me over 4 years to put them here;)
Thanks for your visit. I hope you are having beautiful Spring weather where you are. We are so enjoying being able to sit out on the deck or patio! I have decorated it and have gotten all my pots planted so will share that soon too. Have a beautiful day!!!
XO, Pinky

Christmas Mantle and Hearth, 2015

I try to change up my mantle a little each year but some things have become staples. Last year I had all different trees on the mantle, this year I added deer! The grapevine deer in the center of the wreath is a staple. We found him years ago at an antique store in Lancaster, Pa. We added the sleigh bells strap around his neck and the red for his nose.
I have decorated the wreath with pinecone pods sprayed gold, gold pinecones and hydrangeas from the yard.
Some red berries and gold sticks are added too. It is my version of rustic glam:)

The 2 gold trees on each end were purchased several years ago. They are great for a mantle because they are very slim.

I also added a beaded garland

The 2 green trees are glass. I got them at Kirklands on clearance one year for less than $5.00 each!
The gold lacy deer move all over the house in different years.

On the hearth I have the 2 seeded deer that you saw on an earlier post and some Santas. This Santa is one of the Polish Santas, and has a doll that is from Krakow. It is written on the base.
This one riding a tricycle is a Joyce Ditz, and he is carrying some trees!
The 2 end Santas are hand made by a lady in Texas. Both of them are Polish Santas. She researches what they would wear and sends you the info with the Santa. We have 2 of the Polish Santas because this is the one we gave Joe's parents one year and have now inherited it back.

Fall in the Living Room!!!

I was going to split this into several posts but decided to show it all to you. I will try not to talk too much so you can just look. Please let me know what you think! Let's start with the mantle and hearth. This little white pumpkin is a tiny part of the hearth vignette.
I just added a berry bush to the greens that were here.

This is one of my all time favorite pumpkins.
A berry candle ring and some dried orange slices surround the jar.

I made 2 new arrangements for the mantle, using Chinese lanterns, feathers and tiny orange filler flowers.

The LUSH berry garland makes a repeat appearance.
I LOOOOVE the color on the walls!

I placed one of my velvet pumpkins in this container.

2 sparkly pumpkins sit on the tiered piece.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a most beautiful day! I am partying with:
