Fall Mantle and Hearth 2018

I love decorating my mantle and hearth for the seasons. As much as I admire the beautiful, simple mantles out in blogland I just can't resist really doing it up:) I try to change things each year and am liking the arrangement I came up with this year. I brought out my berry garland and combined it with a leaf garland for a lush look.
I love this container. I made this arrangement last year I think.
I draped the berry garland down the left side of the mantle.

On the hearth I created this arrangement of velvet pumpkins and acorns. I added some berry stems and leaves too.

I had a few blue pine cones so added them to the mix as well.

At night the lights come on and the room almost glows.
I LOVE the carved wooden lanterns on the hearth and they will stay there.

A pumpkin stack, a glitter pumpkin, a glitter gourd and an Asian jar sit behind the garland.

Thanks so much for your visit. I am still praying for all the people who suffered loss during Florence. It is so sad.

The Bounty of Fall in the Breakfast Room

I almost always start decorating for any season in this room, I always have. But since I am taking you through the house on a little "tour" now we have come to the breakfast room. As most of you know, Joe made me this hutch when we lived at the old house. Can you believe we have been here, in this house, for almost 5 years!!! It will be 5 on Oct. 1st. I LOVE decorating for Fall, as the colors of Fall are the colors I LOOOOVE! I did a lot on the top of the hutch and kept the shelves a little sparce.....well, sparce for me;) The walls are the same color but look different depending on how the sun is shining in here.
I filled the lantern on top of the hutch with some pumpkins, orange slices, pinecones etc., but you can't see it and I didn't want to drag a ladder out:)
I gathered 2 garlands together for a lush look and draped them over the down one side.
Pumpkins, faux cabbage, gourds, and leaves and I filled my green bottle with some fall branches.
 I LOVE these pod branches.
This plate was found at Kohl's several years ago. I have a matching meat platter too.
I added just 2 Fall picks to this small bottle.
I found this topiary several years ago at, I think, Joann Fabric! Yes, they have great seasonal décor.
This little squirrel is one of my favorites.
These pumpkins are sitting on wire stands and candle rings. So much prettier than just sitting on the shelf.

On each side of the windows are these 2 stands. They are actually plant stands that I bought over 30 years ago! They lived in the foyer in the old house. The demijohn on the center shelf I found at an antique mall near me a few weeks ago.

I like filling this wire cloche with lots of acorns and pinecones.

Aren't these little birds so cute:)

Thanks for your visit.

Fall Patio, 2016

I decorated the patio for Fall and we have enjoyed it out there, or at least I have when we had mild Fall days and I can read. It is so peaceful to sit and hear the water of the waterfall and the birds chirping. The pics are not really great as I took them on a very sunny day. As you walk out onto the deck this is the view from the stairs.

This is where I usually sit, this is a glider and I love to rock:)

This twig bench came from Lowes about 6 or 7 years ago. I still love it!
I did a stack of just 2 pumpkins this year. I love the lumpy one on top:) The gerber daisies are still going strong.
Out by this tete-a-tete I placed a pumpkin in the pot that had held a plant all summer and surrounded it with a group of gourds and a couple of pumpkins. I still haven't gotten this piece stained, that's on the "to do" list:)
This jack o lantern also came from Lowes 2 years ago. We should have bought stock in Lowes when we moved here as it is 10 mins away and we practically live there:):)
Small pumpkins line the steps between the lanterns and on the railings.
The leaf pillows came from Kirklands several years ago.

Do you look for pumpkins with unusual stems? I do!

Thanks for stopping by. We are very cold right now but it is supposed to warm up a bit this weekend so I'll be back outside again!
