A Late Summer Table

This may be the last summer table I set as I am ready to start my Fall decorating. Since the house has an open floor plan I really have to do it all, as one area is seen from another. I found this pretty runner on clearance so grabbed it as I knew I had dishes that would make a pretty table! The runner has shades of blue and turquoise on a creamy background. The plates are on a solid turquoise placemat and are a creamy charger, a blue dinner plate, a turquoise salad plate and a blue bowl that is patterned inside.

The goblet is a turquoise with bubbles.
Creamy handles flatware is simple and pretty.
I gathered a plain blue napkin with a flowered blue napkin in a queen annes lace flowered napkin ring.

Turquoise candle sticks hold turquoise LED candles surrounded by blue rings.
I made a simple arrangement in my cut glass vase of blue and white hydrangeas with creamy filler.
Blue votives in blue holders sit at each place.

As the sun sets it's time to light the candles. The days are getting shorter and that makes me sad. I love daylight savings time.

Thanks for stopping by. It is so hard to believe that Labor day comes this weekend! Summer has flown by way too fast. I continue to pray for all the people in Texas who have lost so much. Times like this make us realize we have NOTHING to complain about.

A Colorful, Summer Table

As do many of my tables, this one was inspired by the runner. I found it recently and loved the colors, the burlap edge and how bright and cheery it is. So, I decided to build a table around it.
I started with a green and white placemat, my white charger, yellow dinner plate and pink flowered salad. I LOVE that they all have interesting edges; that really makes a setting so special to me.
I had this plate that I am using as a centerpiece. It sits in my fork and spoon plate holder. It appears darker than it is in this pic, as you will see.
I decided to mix the flatware; the bamboo mimics the color of the burlap edge on the runner and the green blends too.
I gathered a pale yellow napkin and a flowered napkin in this beautiful peony napkin ring.

The rattan S and P bring another little touch of texture to the table.
These candle rings are the perfect colors for the runner.

We have had some bright, sunny days and this happy table makes me smile when I see it. Green goblets and yellow mugs complete the setting.

The flowers on the plate are so similar to the ones on the runner. Serendipity:)

We are enjoying this table for breakfast and lunch but have been eating dinner out on the deck. We want to take advantage of every day that we can eat outside. I have an outside table to share with you soon:)

Thanks for your visit. Leave me a comment to let me know you were here!

A Summer Table with Shells

In my "summarizing" the house I set a table in the dining room. I found this gorgeous runner a few weeks ago at, where else, Home Goods and it jumped right into my cart. I knew  could set a beautiful table using it as my inspiration! I filled my large faux clam shell with a lot of my shells, collected over MANY years!
The star fish on the ends of the runner are embellished with sequins and pearls!
When you enter our house and look to the right you will see the dining room.  I think it is much more welcoming to have a pretty table set to welcome guests!
I don't have a large stack of dishes as I wanted to use these pretty shell plates.
The placemats have palm fronds and shells on them.

I have these "starfish" tea light holders too.
I am using my Grandmother's wine glasses again. They add a delicate touch to the table.
I thought I would show you the placemats. I have had these for years too.

I found these shell and driftwood candlesticks at Home Goods several years ago too.
Yesterday I went up to Lancaster county especially looking for a plain, simple garland that I could add to the table and embellish with some shells too!
I found just what I was looking for! I also found a faux pearl garland so entwined it with the green one. I love how the nubby starfish goes with the pearls on the runner and the garland!
I added some greens to the shell napkin ring. The rings were found at the place where I used to work many years ago too.

I hope you would feel welcomed if you came to visit me!
I also removed some of the things on this teeny server and placed the vase of flowers here.

Thanks so much for your visit. As I type this we are having a heat wave and when I got home tonight my Joe told me our air isn't working:(:( So, I am sweating and hoping they can come fix it tomorrow! I hope you are staying cool and enjoying your summer!
