A Late Spring Mini Tour

I thought I would share a look around as Spring is slowly moving towards Summer. You wouldn't know it by the weather we have had but this week will be VERY warm for a few days. Let's look around! After it rained like cats and dogs all day Sat. it was such a welcoming sight to see the SUN shining brightly Monday morning.
These are all early morning shots, with the sun streaming in.
The house feels a little lighter in the warmer months.
I feel that the details of a home really show the personality of who lives there. I have never been one to follow "trends" as I know what I (and Joe) love to be surrounded with. We like to showcase our collections and beautiful inherited pieces.
I know that so many love the all white look but I am a person who loves color. It just isn't me to keep a room all white. I remember when we moved in here I couldn't wait to start painting and get some color around us:) It took over a year but was worth the wait.
I will be changing the pillows and coffee table soon, to a little lighter look. Just changing pillows can make a room look very different.
I love the shadows that are created in the morning.

Last week my sweet hubby took everything out of the curio, and cleaned all the shelves and pieces and put it all back together. It always feels so good to get a job like that done.
The kitchen has not been painted yet but it is a hard job to get above these cabinets so it is an item on our "to do" list.
Birds and gardening are the theme in the kitchen and breakfast room for Spring and Summer.

This candle holder is many years old but I love having a candle burning.
The birdhouse lamp is one of my favorites. I usually have it on the hutch but decided this year to put it here and make a little vignette around it.

The utensil holder and plate came from Target many years ago too. I like greens and blues in the Spring and Summer in the kitchen
I wanted to show you this arrangement I did 2 weeks ago. I found this bunch of faux peonies at a favorite garden center for a FABULOUS price. I knew I could put them in my Grandmother's vase, that I treasure.
 The colors are perfect!
I love the little ferns added too.

Thanks for your visit. Tonight as I write this I am having trouble visiting ANY blogs so hope to be able to tomorrow. I hope you all have a beautiful day and I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's day!
XO, Pinky

Spring Mini Tour!!!!!

A few weeks ago I pulled some things out to lighten up the kitchen, breakfast room and foyer. I wanted to share it all with you. Right now, after a VERY cool Spring, we are having summer like temps in the 80's!!! Crazy!  I am starting with this little vignette on top of the fridge.
I put some moss and a bird on my scale. A tin bucket holds a vine ball and a stone bird sits on a little pedestal and is looking at a nest.

The nest leaning on the scale is a found nest from the yard.
On the buffet area I used two birdhouses on the ends and a birdcage that I decorated several years ago.
The little pots of faux herbs are under these cute wire cloches.
I had fun doing this birdcage using bamboo sticks for the pieces for the birds to sit on.

Over by the sink I have the little stool that I found recently and LOVE!!! I put a birdhouse and a nest on it. 2 copper pieces are hung here and a basket.

My bunny lamp is being changed out to my bird lamp.
I shared this arrangement last year, I think. It was premade but then I added to it to make it bigger and taller.
I even found paper towels embellished with clay pots!
Moving over to the breakfast room and the hutch.
I am loving how the different shades of  green look with the new paint!

I have a bird and gardening theme going on. The birdhouse lamp is one of my favorites. I have a thing for lamps too:)

On top of the hutch is a white lantern now, a bottle with some white flowers a bee skep and a demijohn.

I got another bunch of tulips and enjoyed them for at least a week.
I put a tall, narrow vase inside the pitcher to hold the flowers upright.
 SOOO pretty!
In the foyer I added some candle rings and a few other Asian pieces to the steps.
And this abacus that Joe got in his travels is now hanging here.
So that's my mini tour for now. Things change all the time around here.:)
Thanks so much for visiting. I am sharing at these parties:

Lightening Up the Table with Spring Greens!!!

Spring is the time when the world comes out of it's gray dormancy and life returns in all the shades of green! I truly love almost all greens and feel it is a neutral color whether in linens, dishes or even paint! It seems to blend with almost anything. So, I brought out the greens for the table! I kept the centerpiece very similar to last week but changed from the round basket to this green and white ceramic tray.  I am using a favorite runner with shades of green and some brown on a white background.
The tray is bordered by a leaf motif.
I added some green nesting material to this nest.
This is the nest that the birds built in my wreath on the front door then abandoned. The 2 eggs in it are 2 of the 4 that she laid. So sad.
It is resting on this tiny metal pitcher.
My stack of dishes sit on a green and white placemat.
A little green bird is nesting in our bowls!
I told you about these tiny nests that I also like to use as napkin rings. When I found these at a store in Lancaster county I bought 8 and am so glad I did!
They are holding a white and a cut out green napkin.
I tried different flatware but decided on the brown bamboo to accent the brown in the runner.
I WISH I had green bubble glasses, but I used my clear ones.  And the wire nest votive candles stayed on the table.
Some gardening implements and clay pots....

The bird S and P sit in a wire holder too.

You know me, I had to get some shadow shots:)
Thanks so much for your visit. I hope you are getting some nice, Spring weather! I bought some of my annuals for my pots on the patio yesterday and plan to do them today as it is supposed to get up to 72!!!
