Master Bedroom Sitting Area

Good morning my friends. We are having a heat wave, and it has been HOT! I got to the pool yesterday for the first day this season. I sat with my feet in the water most of the time and only lasted a couple of hours.
I shared the master decorated for summer in my last post so am now sharing the sitting area. I have gone for a sort of "British Colonial" vibe in here, as it is a look I have always loved.  Some of the elements of this design are dark woods, rattan and wicker, a touch of the tropics in plants, fabrics and textures, palm trees etc. So this is what I have done. This pillow was purchased many years ago in Fl. I tried to find a match but couldn't.
 On this side of the love seat I have a faux palm in a large wooden vase, a metal lantern, a rattan candle stick with a greens ball on it, the lion and a starfish for a nod to summer.
 The love seat is a favorite piece of mine. We bought it when we moved in here for this spot.

 The footstool is from India and was inherited from my in-laws. The brass and mahogany lamp was a gift from our son.
 The palm tree lamp on this table was purchased in Florida many years ago also.

The artwork above the love seat is a palm tree print that came from the old house.

 I have 2 of these bird and bamboo plates on each side of the windows. They are held by a metal bamboo plate holder.
 I aimed a spotlight on this one to show the detail of the plate holder.

 Candle holders do not always have to hold candles! This is a much better idea for the look I am going for.
 This monkey candle holder is another favorite piece.
 While I was taking photos the other day the birds must have been trying to see what I was doing:):)
 You can also see some of the detail of the brass on the floor lamp in this shot.
 I really think these might have been baby birds that just left the nest and are living in the bush under this window:)
Thanks for your visit.
XO, Pinky

Spring Bedding in the Master

I finally changed out the bedding in the master for Spring! I found this bedding packed away, had forgotten about it! It was a happy surprise! I am loving the new lighter and brighter look.
 I changed out the accessories on our nightstands too.
 My Mom gave me this little guy MANY years ago, so it reminds me of her.
 I had the white pillow covers and the flowered pillows are outdoor ones that were in my stash. I LOVE how they go with this bedding!

 Joe's nightstand got 2 green jars but then got changed out a little too.
 I removed one jar and replaced it with this faux orchid. It brings in the white.
 Then the other day I found this great round, white pillow at Big Lots for $12.00!!!!
 Love!

 The accessories in the room changed too.
 The bamboo vase came in here from the living room and the white candle with the green bamboo on it came in too.
 I had 4 of the flowered pillows so 2 of them are now on the love seat in the sitting area. I also had the green and white pillows behind the flowered ones. (Do you think I have a "pillow problem"??? I admit it, I do:) Is there a 12 step program for this, LOL!
 I added some green and white berry candle rings to the candles.

 And my bamboo teapot came in here too.

Thanks so much for your visit. Happy Spring everyone! Hope you are not getting the horrible storms that are all over. XO, Pinky

I Changed the Mantle!

Yup, even though it is snowy, cold and WINTER outside I needed a little change. Since I had changed the credenza and the coffee table, I changed the mantle too.  I am antsy as heck for Spring but it just isn't here yet. So this is an in between mantle. Who knows, it could change again:) This jar, even though it is not old (I found it at Home Goods several years ago) is a favorite of mine. It is metal, I love the handle and the details.
 This is the Mama elephant of the set from my in-laws. Such beautiful craftmanship!! Carved from one piece of wood, beautiful.
 That is a box in the center that looks like a large piece of bamboo.
 The 2 end pieces were purchased at the place where I used to work. I just filled them with simple greens. Love the height, perfect for the mantle!

 I found this picture, several years ago at World Market. We used to have one nearby but it is gone and I REALLY miss it!!!!
 I added the garland of greens for some softness on the stone mantle.

Thanks for your visit!!! XO, Pinky

~~~Letting the House Take a Deep Breath!!!~~~
Hello my friends! I have been VERY busy since returning from Fl. on Sat. night taking Christmas down.....finally!!! Joe didn't want me to do it before I left so I came home to all of it. Plus he hurt his backl so I have been carrying all the bins up the stairs and then back down after packing them. Let me tell you going up and down the steps about a bazillion times is GREAT exercise for your butt:):):) So, I wanted to share the morning room as that is where I start. The tree was in here so I am showing you how I put it away and then the morning room dressed down for Winter. Here is a good tip for you. I keep the very top section of the tree decorated and next year I just have to fluff the bows and the berries and sticks and it's good to go!!!
 I also fold the tree skirt and tulle and place it in the box too.
 There you go, all closed up and ready to store til next year!
 Now here are the "bare bones" of the room all cleaned and vacummed.
 I have set a "Winter White" table with touches of greens that I will share tomorrow.
 I have chosen to concentrate on a soothing green color palette for Winter. I feel it is very calming. Today the sun is shing BRIGHTLY after we got 11 inches of snow yesterday!!!
 The plants and plant shelf were in the master bedroom for Christmas and have been brought back out here.
 I have had this large fish basket for MANY years. It holds large pieces of bamboo.
 I have had this bakers rack in here since we moved in but am going to make a change. I have decided I want to put the hutch that Joe made me in here. I think it will be a better fit for the room.
 I love the 2 faux topiaries that I found in the Fall at Tuesday Morning. The green, pagoda shaped lantern holds a candle on a timer. It gives off a beautiful, soft glow in the evening.
Thanks so much for your visit. Now that I am home and getting organized I will be able to blog again!! I hope you are all staying warm: it was 3 degrees when I got up with wind chills between minus 15-20!!! BRRRRR.  XO, Pinky
