Paring Down Kitchen Decor for Winter

After removing all the Christmas decor, I always pare down in the kitchen quite a bit. I bring out some of the pottery pieces that I have collected over time.
As a side note, my Joe had open heart surgery last Tuesday. He had to have his aortic valve replaced. To say I was a nervous wreck the day of surgery is a VAST understatement!!!! I almost lost it when we were in pre op but I held it together for HIM. Thanks God I have a wonderful best friend who came down to be with me while he was in surgery. He did SOOOO well, he just amazes me. I brought him home on Friday!!!!! He continues to do very well. Thank you, God!
Now back to the kitchen: It looks SO weird when everything is put away and the counters are bare:) But a good cleaning is in order when everything is put away.

Then I start to add some decor.
I created this little vignette. I like a lot of textures in the winter to cozy things up. The iron lamp has a wicker lampshade. The plant is in a pottery container and a small covered pottery jar completes the vignette. The other greens hide the lamp cord.

I used to travel to juried craft shows to collect my pottery.
I bought the arrangement of faux succulents years ago because I could not make it for what I paid!
And I love the container it is in.
A pottery piece serves as my utensil holder.

Over on the buffet area I placed my antique scale in the center. I added two rattan chargers and 2 pottery pots with greenery. The chargers are hiding the Echo thing:)

I am sorry some of these pics are dark but it has been cloudy and dreary for days:( Except of course while I was at the hospital each day:):)
Over here I put some collected pine cones in my candle hurricane and a sweet smelling candle on an iron stand. I love to burn candles, even in the daytime, in the winter.
Over in this spot where I always have some sort of arrangement, I have this large pottery vase filled with sticks and grasses.
I did a little vignette on the kitchen bar too.
I filled this pedestal basket with different orbs, orange slices and seed pods.
On these iron and rattan candle sticks I placed rope orbs.

Thanks so much for your visit!

Winter in the Living Room

Good morning my friends. When you read this I will be at the hospital with Joe but I am SOOOO happy to report that he got through the surgery very well and today did GREAT! I am so relieved.
Last week I did a little decorating for Winter in the living room. I shared the fireplace and mantle last week. Today we will look around the room a little. I used my little snow people on the coffee table again but am thinking of a new vignette on there to do when Joe gets home.

I won't do alot of talking as I am exhausted and will just let you look around.

I filled this pedestal bowl with some greens and pine cones.
Added several blue and white jars to this sofa table.

I faux boxwood ball rests in this pedestal bowl

More blue and white jars live in the armoire.

Thanks so much for your visit.

Winter Dining Room Table, 2018

Good morning my friends. As you read this I am at the hospital with My Joe. he is having open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. And prayers that you might offer are GREATLY appreciated. I will be at the hospital all week, he will be there for 4 to 5 days.
Now, onto the dining room. I set a table for winter to greet our guests. We won't have guests as such but rather visitors:) I didn't have to do a lot to change the table from Christmas to Winter.
I did switch to these winter salad plates with the pine branches.
And I made an arrangement in my leopard vase.

I switched to this beautiful gold and balck runner as well.

At dusk we light the candles, which are all LED.
Except for the ones in the mercury glass holders.

Icy branches and snowy pine cones make up the arrangement.

The little trees that were on the plate stck are replaced with the leopard votives.

I decided to add some snowflakes to the wine glasses.

Thanks so much for your visit. Joe and I have been VERY busy getting all the Christmas away. We have been going through the process (of preparing for this surgery) since Oct. but just found out last Thurs. that surgery would be on Tuesday! The anticipation has been very hard. We both just want it over with and he can start to recuperate.
