~~~Hummels in the Curio~~~
Yes, we are STILL unpacking boxes. It may never end:):) But, it is finally feeling like OUR house. We added the Hummels to the curio cabinet. They lived in there in the other house so now they, too, feel at home. They are happy among the blue and white jars, I know, they told me....
 I took these shots at an angle so you wouldn't see me in the mirror back. I was still in my PJ's:):)
 I opened the doors so you could see them better. I love the guardian angel and children piece.
 The guy blowing the horn is beautiful too.
 Most of these were gifts from my in-laws but we did buy some too.
 So sweet, holding the lamb. Makes me feel like Spring is really coming.
 The little girl with the deer reminds me of the old house where we had LOTS of deer.
 It is kinda neat that you can see the back of the figures in the mirror, I just noticed that!
 So, there you have it. Do any of you collect Hummmels? Can you believe, when my FIL started flying to Europe, in the 50's (he was a pilot), he could get these figurines for $5.00!!!!!!!!!!! He gave them away to all their friends. Thank goodness he kept alot too.
~~~My New Lantern!!!~~~

Good Morning my friends!!! I wanted to share a housewarming gift I got before Christmas from 2 very dear friends. We have been friends for over 30 years, are former neighbors and go on an annual "girls weekend" beach trip each year in September. Our children all grew up together and went to the same schools.  Kay and Barb know I LOVE anything Asain so this lantern is the PERFECT choice for our new home!!!! Thanks SO much to both of you!!!!!!!!!!!
 It has a PLACE OF HONOR on the living room coffee table right now. I can see it from the kitchen too and I placed a flameless candle in it so at night I can light it and not worry about it. I placed it on a pretty runner that has an Asain feel too.
 I changed out the pillows on the sofa for winter too. And the Santas have been replaced with more of my blue and white jars.

 I will show you around the living room a little more soon. I LOVE these shadow shots, my very favorite!

 My hibiscus continues to flower, we have 3, 4 or 5 blooms every day! I love it.
 One more shot of my new lantern. I really love it and may move it around to different spots too. Thanks again to Kay and Barb. And thanks to all of you for your visit!!!!
XO, Pinky

~~~"New" Valance in Morning Room~~~
 Good morning!!! It is still frigid here but today we are supposed to go up to the 20's!!! Whoo Hoo!!! I wanted to show you the "new" valance I put in the morning room with the new blinds! I have had this valance for several years but never used it. I bought it from a friend at her garage sale (along with several other goodies). I loved the neutral background and the palm tree pattern! It is perfct in the morning room.  Sorry some of the shots are dark, it was hard to get at the right angle to avoid the glare from the sun.
 It is a kinda heavy fabric and I love the beads hanging from the hem. I got a better shot, below.
 You can see the beads in this shot.
 I love the valance with the blinds. Just enough for what we need.
~~~Our Everyday Placesetting~~~~

Good Morning!!! It is frigid here in Pa. this morning! We are having the coldest temps we have had in 2 YEARS!!!! It is 14 degrees right now. BRRRR!!!! As many of you know, I hate winter, cold etc. I also just took a short trip to sunny Florida where the weather was PERFECT while we were there. Low 80's and sunny everyday!!! That is my kind of winter. SO, I try to bring the tropics to my kitchen in the winter! While others are using their snowmen and icy picks in their decor, I am imagining the tropics! I found these dishes many years ago and bought a service for 8. I love them, they are neautral except for the salad plate so are used everyday here through the winter.
 There are 4 different palm trees depicted on the salad plates.
 The dinner plate has palm fronds along the edge.
 I found these 2 palm chargers several years ago in Fl. so grabbed them quickly. I wish I had gotten more!!!
 This is a plastic placemat for some of us who are a LITTLE messy sometimes.....not mentioning any names:):):)
 I found these placemats this year at CTS and like how the weave looks like bamboo.

 I use my brown bubble water goblets and $ tree clear goblets.
 My brown bamboo flatware is another favorite.
So, there you have it. I will share the whole kitchen, redone for Winter in another post, soon. Thanks so much for your visit. I TRULY appreciate my loyal followers. I am linking to these parties:

~~~ Polish Split Pea Soup~~~
Good Monday morning!! Joe was busy this weekend coking! He made split pea soup, black bean soup and pulled pork!!! I will share the other recipes at a later date, they were ALL good. I didn't get images of the actual cooking though cause I was out. I have SUCH a busy social schedule, you know:):) We enjoyed some GOOD bread, from the grocery store bakery with our soup.
And a nice bottle of wine. Hope you all had a great weekend. They are calling for us to get snow showers tonight, but not any accumulation.
Have a great week everyone. I am linking to these parties:
On The Menu Monday-StoneGable
Here is the recipe!
Polish Split Pea Soup
16 ou. split peas, soaked overnight in 6-8 cups of water
1 chicken boullion cube
1 packet Sazon Goya without Annatto
1/2 lb. smoked kielbasa, cubed (ans split into 2 equal portions)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 medium carrott, diced
1 stalk celery, chopped
1/4 cup dry sherry
S ans P to taste
6 cups water
2 T. Grey Poupon
Sort and rinse the peas. Saute the onions, celery and carotts for 5 to 10 mins. Add the garlic and sherry. In a 6-8 qt. pot, combine all the ingredients except only 1/2 of the kielbasa. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover ans simmer til peas are tender (about 2 hours). In a blender (he uses his immersible blender, he lOVES that thing), puree the soup and return to the pit. (you don't have to move the soup when you use an immersible blender). And the rest of the cubed kielbasa and let simmer for another 30 minutes then serve. We just LOVE this soup. Hope you do too!!!! ~~A Snowman and Snowflake table!!!~~~
Well, a dear fellow blogger told me to upload in HTML mode and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much, Michelle!!!! I have been wanting to share with you my new table setting. It is a fun, wintery, but not Christmas table that will serve us well for awhile.
I am using this cute snowman on a snowman cake plate for my centerpiece. I put some large snowflakes on the cake plate first. As you can see, the tablecloth is red and covered in snowflakes!!!! Cooincidently, this morning we woke to a light dusting of snow!!! The sun was coming through the windows this morning and lit this up so cute!!!
I also added to snowmen on each side of the centerpiece.
I also have these cute snowflake place card holders. Joe made me the place cards on the computer. The snowflake glasses and the clear goblets are both from Dollar Tree!!!
The napkins are covered in snowflakes too.
These new napkin rings are like a mini charm bracelet and have several different "charms", one of which is a snowflake!
These cute bowls will be filled with Joe's delicious chili! My stack of plates are a solid red dinner plate, the snowflake salad plate from Walmrt last year and the snowflake bowl. In between the dinner and salad plates I places a large snowflake for some PIZAZZ!!!!
Yes, I still have my tree up. I am going to Florida for a few days on Tuesday so am waiting til I get back to "dedecorate":) Candles add a soft glow and a feeling of warmth.
Here is a peek at the base of the cake plate. Yup, it's a snowman! And of course we have our snowman S and P.
I love these bowls. They are very versatile.
A  shot of the salad plate, I love all the colors on it.
The glasses are all sparkley at night:):)
And our pitcher is for water or any other drink we may choose:)
This divided dish is usually used for appetizers but could be used for bread and cheese for topping the chili.
And just for fun I am including a shot of my snowman lamp, that is on the bakers rack next to the table. Thanks SO much for your visit. I so appreciate all your sweet comments and support. I will join these parties this week:
