I love the barstools, the backs have a combination of tiles. Each one is a little different.
See that lantern on the right? There is a story to these lanterns. Joe's Dad was a pilot, and when he flew to Germany there was a favorite pub he frequented. He got to know the owners and when they were going to remodel he GOT THE LANTERNS!!!!!!!!!! They were at Joe's parents home for many years and now we have 2 of them. My Joe cleaned them up, repainted them and replaced the glass. You can't tell from the glare but the glass is a golden hue that matches the pool light and hanging pights in the bar.
The mirrors really open up the space!
My one contribution to the bar is my LEOPARD shoe wine bottle holder:):) It was a house warming gift from a dear friend. The pitcher was a Home Goods find.
That large ashtray now holds nuts when we entertain. It, too, came from Germany. It is so wonderful to have these family treasures. The fridge is at the end of this bank of cabinets.
Joe chose a copper sink, it is fabulous and beautiful. Nice and deep. We also have a bar fridge, dishwasher and ice maker! No need to carry dishes, silverware etc. up and down the steps now! The dishwasher is to the left of the sink...
and that is the ice maker to the right.
I found these cute towels, perfect!
It is so nice to have the glass fronted cabinets, we can see the glasses but they don't get all dusty.
wine and cosma glasses:)
These are all beer glasses.
This is Joe's Dad. I LOOOOOVE this picture!!! Joe has a collection of these Bousson heads so he put the Aviator above his Dad's picture. I miss him so much, he was the dad I never had. Mine died when I was 4.
This is one of the paintings MY dad did. He was an artist. My maiden name was Martini, so he did his and my Mom's hands holding Martini glasses.
He did not sign alot of his works so this one is priceless to me.
I thought I would show you the rest of the room too. We have 2 smaller sized sofas.
The lamps are all from India, from Pops travels. We replaced the shades with these many years ago.
The entertainment center is versatile: all the boxes can be moved and rearranged for different displays. They do get moved at Christmas! The 2 lanterns on the speakers are ones that Joe made. He has collected lanterns for many years, before they were the THING!:)
I brought this down for our guests on Friday night, to have a little touch of fall in the room.
going around the room..
the metal bakers rack used to be in the foyer at the old house. The little table besdie the rocker was made for us by Joe's brother, Dale. The rocker came from Lancaster county, made by the Amish.
Joe just got the poster of "The Rat Pack" and he framed it himslf. He is waiting on another poster of Cassius Clay (as he was known back then) standing over Sonny Liston.
This is the powder room...It's a JUNGLE in there:):) Sorry, couldn't resist:) I found the black pumpkin at Walmart.
These 2 prints were found many years ago at a store called Woolworths, do any of you remember that? I frmaed them with standard frames.
So, there you have it. We love the new space and plan to do alot of entertaining down here! I have to get started pretty soon decorating it for CHRISTMAS!!! We are one of 4 houses on our First Annual Christmas Tour of Homes in the development!!!! Should be fun!!!!

I was looking for basement bar ideas for our newly purchased home, and found a picture on another site from your bar build. I really like what you've done. And even better, it appears we have the same model ryan home, so it really gives me a feel for the finished product. Our new place is about 380 miles from you, but the house we are selling in Delaware isn't but ten minutes away from you. Small strange world.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I wish you would e-mail me at: szpinky@aol.com and let me know where you are. We love our home and are SO happy living here and happy with Ryan Homes!
