Good Monday afternoon my friends!!! Wow, it has been a VERY busy few weeks around here! I apologize for being MIA but as I told you in an earlier post, our daughter, SIL, and their 2 dogs moved in with us this weekend. They will be here while their BEAUTIFUL, new house is being built!!!!!! I am SO over the moon happy for them! So, I took some pics, mainly so they would have a record of their first move together, and I thought I would share them with you. On Fri. they both took a half day off so I went over to help pack up the last few things. The dogs greeted me when I got there!!!
Tracy bought this house almost 6 years ago so it is a little sad to her to be leaving it. The ironic thing about this house is that if you sit on that bench on the front porch you are looking directly across the street at the middle school that she and our son attended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This hutch was our sons and he gave it to Tracy when she moved into this house.
Boxes for here and storage....
The kitchen getting packed up too. We left the decorations over the cabinets for the renter since she wanted us to.
The table and boxes go to storage.
On Sat. morning we took apart the bed that was in the guest room so they could bring their bed here.
Their lamps, in place.
Now, their bathroom. I am so glad we have a bathroom with each bedroom. It makes it much nicer for either guests or people living here:):):) All my African decor is packed away. Maybe I will change things up when they go to their new house???
The truck arrived after the guys packed all the furniture etc.
Their bed, dresser and office furniture is coming in here. Tracy and Dave each work from home a day or 2 per week.
LOL, poor Joe looks confused:):) he wasn't, maybe just a little overwhelmed!
Their dresser, in place. It actually looks nice with the shelving unit that Joe built.
Nice, COMFY bed. Much better than what we have in here! I haven't gotten a shot of their beautiful linens, maybe I can sneak in there on day:):)
Yesterday Tarcy and I went back to the old house to CLEAN it. The renter is moving in today!!! I am so grateful that it is a good friend of Tracy and Dave's, so we know she will take GOOD care of it. She is a neat freak too:):)
The living room is clean..... and empty.......
One more box to go...
The table is gone....
the counters are clean.....
It is time to go. I left before Tracy so she could do the floors as she backed out! I also figured she might want to be alone to leave. She did say last night at dinner it was a little sad to leave. I remember when Joe and I moved out of our first TINY house, it was bittersweet. They have a whole lifetime ahead of them and I feel blessed to be ablt to share this happy time with them.

You are such a sweet momma and there is something so sad about leaving any home but especially your first. My second home was the saddest for me because that is where we brought Jemma home and I remembered so many of her little moments from there. They are starting a new chapter and how wonderful for you to be there to help and support! She is a lucky daughter!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jemsmom. what a great Mom and Dad you are to your daughter and her husband..
ReplyDeleteI too was sad to leave my first place but that quickly turned to joy when I got into the next.
I'm sure everyone knows the phrase- to everything there is a season and thats what this is a new season for them .
Wondreful that you can help family ! Joann
ReplyDeleteAwww Pinky you are such a good Mom!! Sounds like you are going to enjoy having them and its so nice you have room for them and their things!! Moving is hard work so I hope get that needed rest and relaxation!!!!
ReplyDeletePinky,
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the future! Hold memories close at heart! Your daughter and son~in~law are beginning an amazing journey together and you with hubby Joe are so precious to help them as they build their future together! Loved the photos of the dogs...looks their ready to get on the move! Ha!
Fondly,
Pat
P.S. Looks as if their furniture is a "perfect" fit in your bedroom!!!
I can't believe that it is almost 6 years since Tracy bought that house!! How time does fly!
ReplyDeleteNow they will make wonderful new memories in their new home when it is ready.
They are lucky to have great, helpful parents like we had!
Love you both.
What great parents, and I am sure Tracy and her hubby feel grateful. It will be so nice enjoying each other's company. I am sure their new home will be awesome. xo
ReplyDeleteI love that you are doing this for the kids! It's wonderful and so generous of you. I know there are going to be awkward moments and it may seem overwhelming at times but way down the road when you all look back it will be good! I don't know the whole story of their move and renters but I'm glad to hear they are getting to have a new home built! It's tough out there these days! My son and DIL are actively saving for their first home now too!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Liz
Awww! I know it is probably bittersweet for them, being their first home. You are so wonderful to let them come live you while building. I think it's great they are taking up your offer to help them out and you get to share the joys of building with them. How fun!
ReplyDeleteMoving is tough and a lot of work, but so worth it with a new home in sight! I know you're happy to have them home for a while.
