A Late Spring Mini Tour

I thought I would share a look around as Spring is slowly moving towards Summer. You wouldn't know it by the weather we have had but this week will be VERY warm for a few days. Let's look around! After it rained like cats and dogs all day Sat. it was such a welcoming sight to see the SUN shining brightly Monday morning.
 These are all early morning shots, with the sun streaming in.
 The house feels a little lighter in the warmer months.
 I feel that the details of a home really show the personality of who lives there. I have never been one to follow "trends" as I know what I (and Joe) love to be surrounded with. We like to showcase our collections and beautiful inherited pieces.
 I know that so many love the all white look but I am a person who loves color. It just isn't me to keep a room all white. I remember when we moved in here I couldn't wait to start painting and get some color around us:) It took over a year but was worth the wait.
 I will be changing the pillows and coffee table soon, to a little lighter look. Just changing pillows can make a room look very different.
 I love the shadows that are created in the morning.

 Last week my sweet hubby took everything out of the curio, and cleaned all the shelves and pieces and put it all back together. It always feels so good to get a job like that done.
 The kitchen has not been painted yet but it is a hard job to get above these cabinets so it is an item on our "to do" list.
 Birds and gardening are the theme in the kitchen and breakfast room for Spring and Summer.

 This candle holder is many years old but I love having a candle burning.
 The birdhouse lamp is one of my favorites. I usually have it on the hutch but decided this year to put it here and make a little vignette around it.

 The utensil holder and plate came from Target many years ago too. I like greens and blues in the Spring and Summer in the kitchen
 I wanted to show you this arrangement I did 2 weeks ago. I found this bunch of faux peonies at a favorite garden center for a FABULOUS price. I knew I could put them in my Grandmother's vase, that I treasure.
 The colors are perfect!
 I love the little ferns added too.

Thanks for your visit. Tonight as I write this I am having trouble visiting ANY blogs so hope to be able to tomorrow. I hope you all have a beautiful day and I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's day!
XO, Pinky

~~~Collected Over Time~~~
That is what our home is now. Things that we love and have collected over time. I thought I would share the living room. Our homes are our sactuaries, the place where we are comfortable and where we show our love to our family and friends. I know many of you have seen the living room  before. I will tell you about some of the pieces. This is the living room as you come in from the foyer. When we moved in, I knew I wanted to do the matchstick blinds on the windows. I then asked Joe to make me the valances and make then so I could display things on them. The lamps are from India and are carved elephants. They used to have other shades but we got these rattan ones many years ago.
 This is a beautiful chair, that FITS me. I can sit in it comfortably. It was  my sons, and he gave it to me when he moved to Florida. It has beautiful, silk upholstery. I placed the 2 tiered rack next to it with 2 Asian pottery pices.
 On the other side is a carved table from India that was my in-laws with a blue and white planter holding ivy. The pot on the stand I bought at Epcot 24 years ago....the year my Mom died.
The curio cabinet was purchased about 29 years ago. It holds blue and white pieces and Hummels. The tree was made by my brother-in-law.
 This sofa is also 29 years old!!! My Mom bought it for us when she came to live with us. I needed a sectional in the old house as that is the only thing that would look right in that space, and I found this PERFECT one! It is amazing that it fits right in here too!!! Of course all my blue and white pieces have been collected over time as well. The screen was my in-laws as well. We have inherited so many beautiful things for which I am SOOOO grateful!
 The elephants, one of my prized possesions were also my in-laws. My FIL was a pilot and got them in Vietnam. I ADORE them. UH OH!!! I just realized that there are paint swatchwes on the wall!!! We are about to paint, FINALLY, and are choosing colors:)
 Recently I came across this needlepoint that someone made for my parents when they got married. I realized I have a few boxes that new got unpacked!!!!So, I decided to hang it here in the living room.
 I found the bamboo ladder many years ago too. It hung in the stairwell at the old house. Now I have a great spot for it here! The Asian guy is a fairly new purchase, (again, Home Goods) and the 2 vases were purchased several years ago. The LARGE blue and white jar was also a gift from our son.
 This is a favorite jar that I got at Home Goods many years ago. I am also giving you a sneak peek at the mantle. I will share that next.
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines and spent it with the ones you love. We went out on Friday night to beat the crowds and were very glad we did. Thanks for your visit. XO, Pinky
~~~Decorating with Blue and White~~~

I have been tweeking some vignettes around the house, adding some things and just "putzing" as I call it. To me, blue and white is classic and will never go out of style. I have been collecting it for 31 years now. Probably won't buy any more, I don't think I have room for more:) I thought I would share what I have here in my home. You all that follow me have seen these jars on the steps in the foyer since we moved in. At Christmas I use red LED candles but the rest of the time they are these creamy ones.  When we saw the model of this house I knew right away that I would do this and display some of my blue and white jars here, as soon as you walk in.
 Right by the front door is this display. My SIL gave us the little bird house as a housewarming gift so I found this plant stand that would fit perfectly here to hang it. Added the pot of ivy on the shelf.
 In the living room I grouped several vases.
 On this side I have my largest jar, that was a gift from my son. It is definitely my favorite. The planter that the tree is in was a gift many years ago from my best friend. Geesh, actually the corner looks different right now too:) I keep moving things.
 The top of the curio is actually a little different already, I added a sprig of greens up there but the lighting is horrible to get a good shot right now. The curio is filled with more jars and our Hummels.

 This handled basket is another favorite piece. I just added some faux greenery.
 I sit here on the sofa to read so keep a book here under this jar. My elephants are my prized possesions. My FIL brought them back from Vietnam during the war.
 The 2 sofa tables also have jars on them.

 I made this little vignette recently. I just got the flowers that are in the vase today, specifically for this vase. The Asian guy is nice here too.
 Hmm, sorry this one turned out blurry!

Thanks for your visit. I so appreciate you all. I also read every comment and try to reply too. Have a beautiful week. As I type this it is Sunday afternoon and the snow is supposed to start tonight. I think we may not get too much, that the coast will get more. I hope!!!! Stay warm and dry, where ever you are. XO, Pinky
