Amazing Water Hibiscus!!!

When we did the pond Joe planted these water hibiscus in 2 pots in the pond and 2 more plants around the pond. Well, this year they have GROWN crazily!!! These 2 plants that are beside the pond probably have close to 40 blooms right now!!! Each bloom is like the size of a dinner plate!!!
We were expecting rain when I took these pictures so the cushions and pillows were put away.
Joe and I decided that after these 2 plants are finished blooming, we are going to move them to another place in the yard. It is too much, and to us detracts from the pond now. The plants die back each winter so all this came up this year!

From here you can't even see the pond so we will plant something that stays low.

One of the plants that was in the pond was removed and put in a LARGE pot that we had. It is doing fine in the pot, amazingly:)

Have you ever seen these? Now that we have them I see them all over but never noticed them before. Like the other hibiscus, the blooms only last a day.
Thanks for your visit.
XO, Pinky

  1. Wow, Pinky, that is gorgeous! Apparently, it is quite happy in that spot! It is such a pretty accent in your landscape.

    1. YES! There is now one pot of them in the water and the second pot is now out on the patio. The forst and second pictures show the pot in the water to the left side of the pond. It just has a few blooms on it now.

  3. Beautiful!!

I was wondering the same thing as Shirley. We hope to build a fountain soon and these would look so nice, but I'm also not sure there's enough sun.

    1. I will ask Joe how much sun they need, I'm not sure. I'll get back to you on that.

  4. Pinky,
    Breathtakingly beautiful, dear friend!
    I agree, I can't see your pond!
These would be lovely in an area where you need height and more coverage!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  7. So beautiful Pinky. I have planted them before, but it was not the right spot. I might try planting some by our little pond. I love the color and lush they look. Good job Joe! Xo

  9. Hi Pinky, I saw these blooms featured by Michael Lee and wanted to let you know how amazing I find them. I have what appears to be the same variety - Lord Baltimore hibiscus - in my perennial garden. They grow HUGE each year (mine are 12 years old now), and I have to stake mine each year to keep them from getting storm damage and breaking. At maturity, mine grew to about 8-9' tall, with plate size blooms. Wonderful, eye-catching plant in the garden. Yours look beautiful!
