Winter Kitchen Tour with Lots of Texture

Good morning friends! I hope wherever you are you are warm! It has been brutally cold here, temps in the low teens and wind chills below zero. UGH. Joe and I are going to Fl. for the month of Feb. and it can't come soon enough!!! I used some of my palm tree decor in the kitchen in preparation for being in Fl. I LOVE palm trees! So come on in, I'll make you some hot coffee! I did this vignette on the corner of the kitchen bar. I wanted to keep the center of the bar open for now. I also love to have lots of texture in the winter to warm things up. Baskets, different metals, pottery all provide different textures in the kitchen.
The bar stools are metal and have stone like backs.
As you will see, green is the main accent color I am using.
The buffet area: I removed the Christmas elements and put back all the white dishes. On the top shelf are 4 of my herb plates. Above the cabinets are pottery, baskets and greens.
We just got this dish from Joe's cousin the other day. It was his Grandmothers. I just love it. I will give it to my daughter and she can give it to Colleen!

In the center is a bread board, pottery vase and some greens.
On this side I placed all different spheres in the glass hurricane that has a cement base.  The large scoop holds faux pears and a lidded pot completes the vignette.

On the fridge is a wire basket with green apples, a copper bowl and my scale.
A very large basket holds some greens. Palm tree towels on the oven door.
The palm tree piece over the stove is made of metal so safe in this spot. A pottery bowl holds Joe's wallet.
I have black and green utensils in the palm tree holder.

This is why I kept the center of the breakfast bar clear, I love this view.
This vignette has an iron lamp with a rattan shade, a faux succulent in a pottery basket and another lidded pottery jar.

Copper, a basket and a large pottery piece at the end of the counter.

The view from the kitchen to the breakfast room. Copper molds are above the doorway opening.

Around this pantry door are a large fishing basket, copper molds, a copper bowl and a pottery colander.

I hope you have enjoyed the tour. Have a beautiful day!!!!! I hope you stay warm.

Some New Copper in the Kitchen!

Yesterday I was at Home Goods and they have gotten alot of new copper pieces in! I was drawn right to it. I used to have a very nice collection of copper pieces and then got rid of all of it several years ago....pre blogging and pre this house. I am loving it again so am collecting, slowly. I only buy nice copper pieces and on sale:) As something new comes in then the moving dance begins again. One thing leads to other things moving :)  This is how this wall looked yestersday. I decided I wanted the new copper piece where the basket with the hanging plant is. I also may move the Hummel bee rings, I know where they will look very nice.
I thought I would show you what is also here, a gift I got from Colleen at Christmas:):) This will NOT move!
I will share where this ends up soon. I love this basket as it has an iron scroll top and bottom that is hidden by the plant right now. Did you notice the pottery wall swith cover?
Here is the new pot in place! It came with a paper that said it was solid copper and it has the nice heavy handles too. LOVE it!
A few weeks ago I got this copper colander. I used to have one just like it. It, too, has the nice heavy handles. Next to it on the wall is a fish mold that I love too. I am seriouly thinking about getting a pot rack and if I do I will then I will hang some copper on it and other neat things!
I know this basket looks dusty in the pictures but I cleaned it and it must be the way the sun is shining on it.
When I turned the kitchen lights up it looked better:)

So there you have it. Do you like copper? I was silly when I got rid of it cause I thought it was not "in style" anymore. I now use what I love and do NOT follow trends or fads. My advice to anyone is to fill your home with what YOU love. Have a beautiful weekend my friends.
XO, Pinky

A few Fall vignettes around the house

I thought I would share some of my Fall decorations, since they will be coming down soon to be replaced by CHRISTMAS!!!!!! That is my favorite time to decorate, and decorate I DO!!!! But first we will have Thanksgiving and be reminded of ALL we have to be thankful for. We are very blessed!!!!!!
This is on my server in my dining room. I saw something similiar on my friend, Yvonne's blog and was a big copy cat!!!:)
This pretty pumpkin plate in my kitchen, yes, next to the microwave.
I got 2 of these pottery pumpkins a few years ago at Tuesday Morning.
I decorate the windowsill in the kitchen. Leaves, lights, and fun pieces.
 A little scarecrow sitter.
 A maple leaf trivet.
 Another pumpkin plate.
My girlfriend made this many years ago. I changed the pot and the shade.
A pretty plate from Kohl's. This is on my server in the breakfast room.
 More on the server.

One of the pumpkins on the hutch in the breakfast room.
I love my pinecone lamp.
A big ceramic gourd, on the hutch.
A bigger view of the hutch. My Hubby MADE me that hutch!!!!!!
On top of the fridge. My son gave me the copper pumpkin many years ago and I LOOOOOVE it!
